Keith Edwards is a radon specialist with MHI. He joined the MHI team early in 2014 after retiring from a 37 year career with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and relocating to rural Bondurant. During his USDA career, Keith planned and managed natural resource and economic development projects and provided USDA programs and technical expertise to Soil and Water Conservation Districts in 1/3 of Iowa’s southern and western counties.
Keith learned about the presence of radium (source of radon) while working with soil science colleagues mapping Iowa soils in the 1970’s -1980’s. The highest average radon concentrations in the United States are found in Iowa. Keith had his Bondurant home tested for radon concentration in 2012. A radon mitigation system now effectively manages the radon level for a healthier environment.
Keith completed a Radon Measurement Course at DMACC offered by the University of Minnesota College of Continuing Education in 2013. He is a Certified Radon Measurement Specialist, issued by Iowa Department of Public Health, Bureau of Radiological Health.
Keith has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Iowa State University and roots for the Cyclones.
